I haven’t done anything too interesting lately. I had a few tests last week…looked at some really awesome blogs and did my taxes. I did, however get some time with the pipe my brother gave me for my birthday. Great news! I can bring you even MORE intimate details about my life...from intimate places!!
So Yea, I had a great time last Saturday with my cold sake and sushi buddies. What's even more awesome is that my brother made me a glass mini pipe for my birthday!! He freaking MADE it with a torch and everything. It just blew my mind. I think ill have some pictures up later.

Not bad for a Monday, mang.

My birthday is coming up! I'm going out for sushi and getting hammered on sake and prolly smokin weed while enjoying the company of my woman. Like a boss.

Maybe I'll do something nice like upload a picture or a video of some birthday-related-kind-of-thing.

Emo + Libya Update = ...wat

This is a post I wrote myself last Wednesday. Substantially more emo, so skip down to the news if you just want the good stuff.


Been a good spring break so far. Getting some time to relax and think leisurely about school projects and general self-improvement. It's been almost a full week of going on a 2 a day dosage of welbutrin. It's not something you can feel an obvious difference. There seems to be a bit of a change, bit that might have more to do with therapy than medication.
Last night I was watching a movie at home with my girlfriend and I go to get something from my room when I see a guilty looking dog coming out as I head towards it. Sure enough, 3 more guilty dogs file out. I know that those means there will be trash and urine all over the place. My girlfriend, for the first time in the year and a half that we have been dating, saw me get mad. I yelled in frustration on seeing the dogs and knowing what it meant that they were there. I knocked into the alpha dog knowing he masterminds these pissing raids.
I was so mad. And frustrated too cause its not like they know much better. And further training after the fact will do no good... what a bummer.

IN THE NEWS!!!

The Libyan anti-Gadhafi forces are making their way to Gadhafi's birthplace in an attempt to demoralize the regime supporters. The No-fly zone seems to be making quite the positive impact in the ambitions of the rebels.

Earlier, a wounded rebel with bandages on the left side of his head and face described what happened Monday about 30 kilometers (nearly 20 miles) from Sirte, near the city's main entrance.

He said he and a group of fellow opposition fighters came across a group of Gadhafi forces who raised a white flag -- a suggestion that they would not shoot. But as the opposition approached the group, the Gadhafi forces fired on them indiscriminately, killing some of the opposition members and wounding others, the rebel told CNN's Arwa Damon. Vehicles were destroyed as well, he said.

Since I posted last, NATO has taken over the Libyan military assistance command and had refused to take any over action in aiding any 'side' of the conflict other than maintaining the no-fly zone for the sake of the civilians.

In addition to pressing on to Gadhafi's hometown, the rebels have made a seris of advances.

The anti-Gaddafi rebels have seized a number of key coastal communities and important oil installations in recent days, including Ras Lanuf, Brega, Uqayla and Bin Jawad. - BBC.co.uk

Meanwhile, Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, has critiqued the NATO involvement in Libya stating that it is interfering in another country's civil war.

This makes for great debate. Is the conflict in Libya a civil war? If not, then what is it?

Espresso news update!

Things are becoming interesting for me recently. I just upped my anti-depressant medication to twice a day as per doctor recommendation and I can’t tell a difference quite yet. I got a stovetop espresso maker andit workd GREAT *twitch twitch*!!

I’m on spring break and have been fantasizing about taking hang gliding lessons when I can scrape together enough monies. I plan on going camping with my girlfriend in the desert for a couple days which should be awesome cause she has never been. I love the desert because you are always completely surrounded by nature. The silence can be kind of overwhelming, but it really is something to behold.

I’m so excited that my blog is taking off! I feel like I have some awesome friends to follow and that the community here is more supportive than I could have ever guessed.

In the news;

The UN passed the resolution to take ‘all necessary steps’ to prevent Ghadafi from harming citizens and French fighter planes were first to arrive on the scene quickly followed by US tomahawk missiles. In a frighteningly short amount of time the no-fly zone has been put in place by the international community. It feels like the US is making a kind of statement by having the French go first, but immediately following with military support. Who knows? Perhaps this is an extension to other UN permanent council members to step up and be more bold in excersizing control internationally? Almost as if to say, “Go ahead, we’ll be here to help. But know that this isn’t free and that we all need to work together on this.”.

I often find myself trying to find the US’s international intentions when I follow the news. Sure, NATO made the resolution, but I think the US had a lot to do with it. Also, the fact that US missiles were right behind French fighter planes….I can’t be the only one with that gut feeling.

Sorry I have missed a few days! I was cramming for a ridiculous College Algebra test the other day. On to the blog!!

Spring break is here, got a paper to write, I will have the house to myself for a few days, which will be nice. Think SUPER weekend relaxation. Lazyness to the max.

Momentous happenings in the news,

United Nations (CNN) -- The U.N. Security Council voted Thursday evening to impose a no-fly zone and other measures to try to halt Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's rapid advances against rebel positions in his country.

This is HUGE. This has been in the works since the uprising turned nasty at the tail end of January and now it’s finally passed! The United Arab League was one of the first groups to back the no-fly zone - The main motivation being the protection of civilians in Libya. After the protests, many were right to fear reprisals from Gadhafi and many civilians were slaughtered by troops loyal to the regime.

This is a key step before United Nations countries can step in with military aid. I feel that there have been many reasons for the US to be cautious in aiding fledgling revolutions in North African countries and especially in getting involved in another heavily Muslim country. Without more regional and international support, it would seem like the US is trying to dominate other countries for the sake of their own ideologies instead of for the sake of preventing more human rights violations.

While this is a great step forward in helping the people of Libya, real action is needed quickly before Ghadafi’s forces reach the rebel stronghold of Benghazi. I’m anxious to see how this all will play out.
